The SLPL has undoubtedly been a fantastic experience, says Fawad Alam – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fawad-Alam-c56883, the out of favour Pakistan middle-order batsman, is extremely impressed by the facilities provided in the inaugural edition of the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL) and believes that the tournament is going to help players enhance their game.
The left-handed batsman was part of the UVA Next squad which went on to lift the trophy under http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s domestic cricket over the years.
Some other Pakistani players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604 and Hammad Azam also played for the same franchise and helped in UVA Next’s title triumph.
The 26-year-old cricketer is happy with the experience of being with the champion team and claims to have learnt a lot by sharing the dressing room with players from different cultures.
The Karachi-born player revealed, while talking to Pakpassion, that the league was organized in an extremely professional manner and the players were properly looked after. He feels that the tournament will gain popularity in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and around the world with the passage of time.
Fawad said, "The SLPL has undoubtedly been a fantastic experience. We have been provided with five star facilities, and even the grounds and pitches have been so good that it gave us the feel of an international tournament. The crowds were fantastic although a little thin - but I think that’s understandable since this is a new tournament."
The cash-rich league was more important for Pakistani players as they are deprived of playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since its first edition in 2008. A huge number of Pakistani cricketers took part in the SLPL and are attached with different franchises.
Alam believes that franchise cricket helps players improve their game and such tournaments should be encouraged at every level.
"In my view, such events are great for professional development of players – it’s a good learning experience for any cricketer, whether new or experienced," he added. "They allow you to experience the intricacies and pressures similar to those of international cricket."
