Was it MANS fault? What could we have done to stop it? HMMM what can we do really to stop anything.

Please understand i know the need to do OUR part but do we REALLY play that much of a role?

  1. I keep trying to figure out how Carbon Dioxide and Nitrogen Dioxide are supposed to cause a problem? They are both heavier than air and settle back into the ground and create more hydrocarbons. How can these molecules with specific gravity that is rgeater than 1 possibly float up into the air and cause a so-called greenhouse effect?

  2. The lack of even basic a understanding of science here continues to amaze me, in answers like realitycheck's convection is studied even in highschool level science. Suggesting atmosphere co2 will just fall to the ground and create hydrocarbons is utter nonsense.

Heres a hint, look in the sky, see a cloud, it is made of water vapor, water vapor is heavier than co2, don't be afraid the cloud will not fall on you.

And c_martel750 has 3 thumbs up for an answer that is totally wrong, the Sahara was larger during the last iceage and shrank with the end of the iceage.

  3. global (adj) - 1. of or applying to the whole earth.

Human activity has resulted in an increase of the average (over the entire globe) temperature above the natural background. It isn't responsible for regional variations (e.g. Sahara) caused by wind/precipitation patterns, geographic locality (e.g. close to equator or away from moderating large bodies of water), etc.

Yes, we do REALLY play that much of a role.  When there were just a few hundred million of us, we were insignificant.  But our own mastery of our environment has the side effect that there are unintended consequences to our ability to move mountains, reroute rivers, and release Billions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

  4. Here's two things I believe:

    1) global warming=liberal propaganda

    2) The slight increase in world temperature is due to ocean currents, ice caps melting, and natural occurences that have been happening for thousands of years, and are part of the earth's cycle, not caused by carbon emissions.

There are huge corporations making HUGE amount of money by going "green."  We've been scared into thinking that global warming is our fault.  We don't emit nearly enough carbon into the atmosphere to causae global change.  It's all about money...

  5. No. First of all Global Warming is not real. Its not like the Sahara Desert only recently got hot.

  6. It is often listed as the driest place on earth and it is part of the largest desert on earth.  The shatell or boundary between north Africa and subsaharin Africa is a fragile landscape that can benefit or be harmed by the actions of man.  Most deserts are surrounded by environmentally brittle lands that can be damaged by the actions of man.

  7. Zeldazee....

Would it shock you to learn that none of the worlds deserts are the driest place on earth  ??

  8. It was the end of the last ice age and the melting of the glaciers Thatt caused a realignment of ocean currents sending the storms tha used to keep that region irrigated ac cross the Atlantic to give the America's their hurricane season instead of the old west African monsoon.

  9. "Do we really play that much of a part" is exactly the question every voter needs to ask.  Water vapor accounts for 95% of the greenhouse effect, human caused CO2 about 1%. Notice that clear nights cool off rapidly, cloudy or humid nights do not (like nights in the desert).

  10. The reasoning behind this is the lack of cloud cover over desert areas. It influences the albedo effect. A good contrast would be the Amazon rain forest.

  11. Your question makes no sense.  Someplace has to be the hottest, regardless of global warming or not.

  12. nooooo! the saharas been that way for thousands of years, man is making it bigger but most of it is natraul.also the hottest place in the world is death valley.

  13. The biggest scorcher ever noted was on September 13, 1922, in El Azizia (also known as Al 'Aziziyah), Libya, when the mercury hit 136 degrees Fahrenheit. El Azizia is near the Sahara desert, so it's no wonder the place gets so hot. Temperatures have likely gotten even hotter in the actual desert, but weather stations aren't there to record it.

California's Death Valley had the second-highest temperature. This desert area hit 134 degrees Fahrenheit in 1913.

    1922 and 1913

    about 90- years ago

    Makes you think

  14. no ones trying to stop anything. global warming is, yes, a natural earth cycle. however, humans are speeding up and magnifying the process and effects of it.
