The San Francisco Giants overpower the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 to snatch series – MLB Update
The National League’s San Francisco Giants snatched their second-straight game over division rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers by 4-3 at AT&T Park in California.
The Giants came from behind to achieve a series win over the Dodgers and have now won four out of their last five games.
The Giants’ started the game positively at both ends as Jonathan Sanchez first struck out one batter in the top of the first innings. Aubrey Huff then, tossed a sacrifice fly to right field allowing Aaron Rowand to score a leading run in the bottom of the
first inning. The Giants kept their performance in the second inning and added another score to put the Dodgers under early pressure.
The Dodgers, realising the game was slipping out of their hands, retaliated and restricted the Giants’ batters from widening the lead. It proved a complete come-back for the Dodgers as Rod Barajas smashed a dazzling two-run homer to left field and tied the
game two all. Aaron Miles took full advantage of the momentum and managed a 3-2 lead from an RBI single in the top of the sixth inning.
Despite going under a one-run deficit, the Giants did not let the game go so easily and bounced back impressively in the bottom of the sixth. Pablo Sandoval and Mike Fontenot crushed the Dodgers’ already expensive starter Ted Lilly, with their homers and
achieved a 4-3 advantage. It was the lead that the Giants were looking for, as they did not let the opposition pass until the end of the outing.
The Giants’ starter Jonathan Sanchez was the one, who gave up all three runs to the opposition. However, he was scoreless in first three innings before receiving two tying and one leading run in the fourth inning. Sanchez finished his six innings spell getting
nine strike-outs and allowed just two walks. However, it reduced his record to 1-1 with a 3.24 earned run average.
On the other hand, Lilly pitched loose in the start of the outing and remained out of form in his all six innings. The right-hand pitcher permitted seven hits and four runs, but did not allow any walks. The Dodgers’ relievers Mike MacDougal and Hong-Chih
Kuo along with closer Matt Guerrier did not go for any runs in their shot spells. Kuo managed to add two more strike-outs to his career.
