I bought a Sony Ericsson w580i last year in December. The memory stick is Sandisk M2.

It's been fine until this month, when one day I was listening to a song when it suddenly stops and " Playback failed" pops up. It's been a few weeks already. I have tried taking the memory stick out, made sure it wasn't just dust but it's still not working. I turned off my cell phone, and tried turning it on again. My default theme was changed to the Red Rogers default theme. A message showed , (I really can't remember), something about. " Format, your files will be lost. " option: Yes or No.

A few days later, I read on the internet , and it told me to re-format it, and hopefully it will work. I reformatted it, and it still didn't work! I put in new mp3 files, and it still wasn't playing the music right.

A week later, I try it again, I played a song, and it played for about 10-20 seconds and then " Playback failed" again. The memory stick works on the computer and laptop. When I check my "Phone Status" it says the MEMORY STICK IS DETECTED. Then, I check File Manager, and go to my "Memory Stick" tab, and it says " No Files".

PLEASE HELP ME ='( Is it the phone problem or memory stick problem.

When I tried the memory stick in my friend's cell phone which is also m2, it didn't work either!

  1. Your memory stick micro, has been infected by the hidden folder or new folder.exe virus.

This has happened to me too, bfore, and for your info, i use a W580i myself.

Actually, i'm replying to ur question using the awesome phone.

    Coming to ur problem,

It looks like only ur card is infected.

So format it using a CLEAN VIRUS FREE computer.

Since you've already used ur card on the laptop, its probably possible that ur laptop is infected too.

But nonetheless, avoid formatting ur memory card using your phone.

Then, put your songs back in.

But don't copy your songs out from the memory card bfore formatting. They are probably infected.

So get your songs from a different source.

    :)

Tell me if that solves your WalkMan prob.

    :)
