In the springtime, daylight savings hours get invested in a poorly-performing corporation.  

Once there, the principle officers equity-strip them away, take a golden parachute, and leave us with a deficit of daylight hours that we have to suffer with through the winter.

Actually, you have it backwards - we are spending the hours that were saved over the winter.  It should really be "daylight spending time"
