I need help trying to find stylistic device in the book The Secret Life of Bees. My brain is going through a f**t right now (Duh it's summer) and I can't remember what stylistic devices are. If anyone out there knows please help!.

I tried to find some in on my own such as:

Symbolism

Imagery

Could someone tell me if these are correct?

  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stylistic_D...

Follow the link above (click on the blue part after the word 'Please...' if the link is not direct.) You'll be there then, and I suggest you read in the content box there, where all the words are in blue. You can click on any word that puzzles you to immediately find a definition in the article. The main words (beneath general headings) are these:

    Metaphor

    Simile

    Rhyme

    Repetition

    Alliteration

Structure (plot structure, including things like flash backs)

    Irony

    Diction

    Sentence structure

    Symbol

    Foreshadowing

    Imagery

    and

    Motif

Don't be alarmed. You will NOT be expected to write about all of these, only those used a lot in The Secret Life of Bees. Again, if a word puzzles you and you don't have a good dictionary, suggest you simply hit that word in the list at the link above and you'll be taken right to an explanation and example.

    Good luck on your paper.
