The Selective Service System sent me a letter in the mail. What am I going to do ?

The letter says they want me to registor in the army. If I don't register , I'll be put in jail. Does this mean I'm going to Iraq ? What am I going to do ? Am I going to be drafted ? What's going to happen ? I'm a little scared. I'm not sure what to think. HELP !

Its the Law, You must register You will not be drafted,Nothing to be Afraid of

Yes, you better go enlist as soon as possible.  You can try enlisting in the Navy or Airforce if you are worried abotu seeing combat to get an easier ride.

It's in case of a draft, but a draft is next to impossible to happen.

relax dude. registration for the selective service is still mandatory for all males aged 18-26. you were supposed to register within 30 days of your 18th birthday. just go here and register

it doesn't mean you're in the army, it just means that if they do decide to reinstate the draft that they'll already know who to call up. Every male has to do it.

there is no draft.....you do have to register it is the law......go down and do it and don't worry about it after.......I repeat there is no draft.....there is no draft

  We do not have a draft, but we are still registering draft age people in the event that we do have to select people for involuntary military service. Though we did away with the draft we kept the registry. They can call it anything they want but it is just another way to keep track of the population. You should be a little scared you're crying like a little wuss. Man up on your obligations to yourself and to life.

Beat them to the punch. Join the Marines. By the time you get done done with training, Iraq will be drawing down. You will probably get sent to Afghanistan instead.

I thought America was a "free" country, I live in a free country where you aren't forced into armed services or threatened with jail or have to put up with stuff like this.

Calm down! You have to register that you are of military age and tell them where you live, in case in the future there is a draft . They no where to find you!.
