I got the game and when I try to run it. This error message came up "enumerate any DirectX 9 compatible graphics adapters in this system." Now I know I have DirectX, heck I got version 10. So why is this message is coming up? My laptop is HP Pavilion dv2700, it's an entertainment laptop. Got 3GB, Vista, Nvidia GeForces 7150M/ nforce 630M.

  1. yeah im having the same exact problem. I was able to run all the other packs just fine and I have every single one.

    I have ATI Radeon X1300

  2. The message is actually telling you that your graphics adapter (graphics card) does not support directx, not that you don't have directx. EA has posted the cards that are supported and the Nvidia Geforece cards are as follows: NVIDIA(R) Quadro(TM) series

    Quadro, Quadro2, Quadro4

NVIDIA GeForce series GeForce2 GTS and better (GeForce 6200 or greater required for Vista)

    GeForce 2, 2 GTS

    GeForce 3, 3 Ti

    GeForce 4, 4 Ti, 4200, 4600, 4800, MX 420, 440, 460

    GeForce FX 5200, 5500, 5600, 5700, 5800, 5900, 5950

    GeForce PCX 5300, 5900

    GeForce 6200, 6600, 6800

    GeForce 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950

    S3 GammaChrome

    S18 Pro

    S18 Ultra

Now if your card is a Go card, then the official site advises the nVidia GO series cards (found in laptops) are NOT compatible with Sims 2 and are not supported for use with Sims 2 or its expansions! You -will- have problems running Sims 2 if you have a GO card. Updating drivers can help sometimes but usually not - the best thing to do if you have a GO card and you would like to play Sims 2 is to pick up one of the Stories series games (Life Stories, Pet Stories, or Castaway Stories) which are specifically made for laptop gaming and do support the nVidia GO series cards.

Edit: do you have previous late expansions such as Freetime? Because it looks as if the requirements are exactly the same. If your card worked before with later expansions then this might be an error exclusive to Apartment Life, I'll have a look around to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue with AL and cards that worked before. The worse case scenario is that you might have to wait for EA to release the patch. Remember how many issues there were with Freetime before they patched it? Hundreds!

*Also did you try updating your drivers? There is a helpful thread and links here relating to your card: http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/Show...
