The Sims2 is running ridiculously slow... taking almost an hour to open a family?

Okay.... I have the sims 2 with nightlife, open 4 business, university, seasons, and family fun stuff. I tried to open a up a lot yesterday and it took an hour to open, and when i got in it moved really slow.It is one of only two houses I built myself, all the others were prebuilt but those run almost as bad. It has only started working badly since I installed seasons. Do I need to do a patch or is there anything else I can do about it?

You could try patching the game, but my guess is that you don't have enough memory for the game.  It's a memory hog and it's a graphically intense game.  If you can, max out your memory for your computer.  Newegg.com has good prices for memory.  If you need to, you can also upgrade your graphics card while you're at it.

If you can't upgrade right now, removing some expansion packs you're not using would help, as would removing any custom content you're not using too.
