Question:

The Smoking/anti-smoking debate, is it really about hate or health?

Anti-smokers seem more hateful towards smokers than worried about others' health at times. Especially while using junk science. I'll have to honistely say I'm a smoker, it cleared up my atsma and I'm healthier than many non-smokers I know. So that's my bias, but let me know what you guys think.

  1. Yeah, they tried telling me drinking gasoline was bad for me (what junk science).  I mix a little gasoline in my coffee every morning and I am healthier than many the non-gasoline drinkers I know.  If it is good enough for my car it is good enough for me, I mean look how much faster my car can go than I do.

This week I plan to start directly injecting engine oil in my joints, to help prevent arthritis.

  2. a lttile bit of both

  3. Yeah, they're kind of nuts about it, aren't they. Frankly, I think a lot of that comes from not liking the smell. That at least was my motivation as a kid. I was a rabid anti-smoker, mostly because I hated the smell of other peoples' smoke.

That being said, there are real hazards to smoking, and they have nothing whatsoever to do with junk science. Unfortunately, they overhype the dangers in health class in an attempt to keep kids from starting, so people get a ridiculously exaggerated impression of how harmful it is. For example, most people think that a majority of smokers die from lung cancer, even though it strikes only 1 out of 18.

  4. Yeah, try spelling your words right.
