The Sooruz Royan Atlantique Pro Junior added to the 2012 European Pro Junior Tour
Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) Europe has expanded its roster of events scheduled for 2012 with the announcement of The Sooruz Royan Atlantique Pro Junior that will run from July 12-15 at La Cote Sauvage in Royan, France.
The 1-Star Men and Women Pro Junior event will be part of the 2012 European Pro Junior Tour. It is expected to be a huge success considering the $5,000 prize-purse and coveted European Pro Junior ranking points on offer.
President of the local surf club and organiser of the ASP sanctioned event Isabella Peyvel expressed great joy over the addition of the latest Pro Junior event into the European Pro Junior Tour, stating that it would be a first for her club, her little town
and the department of Charente Maritime.
She further went on to add, “We are really looking forward to a busy week, Royan sees a lot of tourists this time of year and it should be exciting ! We worked on the French National Championships in 2004, an ETB stop and also multiple French Cup competitions,
this will be our biggest event and the first of its kind.”
Royan indeed has a beautiful beach that extends up to 20 km and has a number of access points that lead to a number of A-Frames promising beach-breaks.
The beach has been serving as a popular surfing spot for the locals and hosted a number of events in the part. However, none of these events had been as prestigious as the ASP sanctioned event that will be making its debut in July.
The event will be getting sponsored by Sooruz, who will be making more than just financial contribution to the event. The experience and expertise will prove to be of great value and is expecting to have a huge impact on the success of the event.
The event sponsor and local surf club will work together to organise the best-possible set-up for all the stakeholders, which include the surfers, public and media.
“The beach is so long, we’ve decided that the main site will be at entry n°46 (parking du vieux phare) where we’ll build the site with all the usual competitors area etc, but we also have a totally mobile structure that can move anywhere along this stretch
of beach-breaks,” conceded Peyvel.
The organisers plan on setting up a dedicated website for the event and offering live webcast to deliver the thrilling action to fans around the globe.
