The South Korean Track gets the green signal
The South Korean track has finally gotten a green signal to host its debut race later this month.
After a detailed inspection held by International Automobile Federation (FIA) on Monday and Tuesday the final verdict came from their side telling that the track is all set and ready to showcase its first Formula One race, scheduled to take place on 24th
of October.
Briton Whiting, the technical director of FIA, tested and checked every corner of the track minutely going through many of them on foot. Finally after compiling all the reports he was happy to give thumbs up for the track. It is a big moment for Korea Auto
Valley Operation (KAVO), the organisers of the race.
After a very long period of uncertainty for the race, this news today has brought a sigh of relief for FIA as well as all the teams and race followers. There had been a lot of tension as the Formula One supremo, Bernie Ecclestone’s comments kept drifting
and the inspection date kept postponing every now and then. As per the regulations of the sport a track must be inspected 60 days ahead of the race, however, the S. Korean track was far from ready at that time.
Ecclestone provided a relaxation to the Korean organisers setting 21st of September as the final inspection date. The teams as well as all the race fans waited for the inspection date anxiously while the Supremo believed the organisers hoping
that the track would be ready by the given date. However, once again he was struck with disappointment, and at the end of the Singapore Grand Prix, for the first time Ecclestone sounded short on hope for the track exclaiming that the Korean race was still
under uncertainties.
Now, as the track has got inspected less than a fortnight before the race day, the entire FIA crew is more than relaxed to announce that everybody who goes to there would love it.
The track lies only 320 kilometers south of Seoul, the capital and largest city of South Korea. It is built at Yeongam and had been designed by the most talented and popular designer and architect of contemporary times,
Hermann Tilke. The German designer has the credit of designing several other tracks of present time including the tracks of Abu Dhabi, China, Bahrain and Malaysia.
Now, as one of his latest ventures has been completed, let’s wait and watch how many drivers and the fans would love it.
