The Starboard Bow seeking victory in the Watch Racing UK On Channel 432 Handicap Hurdle (Betfair Hurdle Series Qualifier) at Carlisle
Carlisle is to become home for the Class 4 Watch Racing UK On Channel 432 Handicap Hurdle (Betfair Hurdle Series Qualifier) over two miles, three furlongs and 110 yards on Thursday, 22nd March. Combined for the contest are eight four-year and older thoroughbreds while the purse for the race is £3, 574.
Displaying and maintaining consistency even if that means staying persistent with the third position in the first two starts of the 2012 season, has been put up by The Starboard Bow, Observatory’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare Overboard.
His welcome race for the season was Bet Live At Victorchandler.Com Handicap Hurdle on 2nd January at Ayr over two miles and four furlongs. The race was won by Teenage Idol who led the field by nine lengths and had Los Nadis following.
Settling into the third position was The Starboard Bow who was soon joined by the 85/40 favourite, Little Hercules.
Not getting drawn to the fourth position and remaining at terms with finishing third, The Starboard Bow met the same fate in the John Smith’s Handicap Hurdle on 11th February at Musselburgh over two miles and four furlongs.
Cape Dutch, the 6/4 favourite, was the winner with 2 ¼ lengths in his favour. Scoring second in the race was Cotillion.
Last time The Starboard Bow won was in the Saltire 2010 Juvenile Hurdle on 26th November at Musselburgh over two miles. Qualifying as the runner up of the race was the 11/8 favourite, Meetings Man, who missed onto winning the race by 1 ¾ lengths.
Striding on for the third position after the winner was Makbullet.
The Starboard Bow has remained winless in the last eight starts and it is high time that he makes the most out of the third start of the season.
He needs to look out for Knight Valliant who has raced at Carlisle recently, his last two races were at the same race course that gives him the experience and exposure edge. However, he is not lethally threatening as Knight Valliant has struck victory through none of the races that he took part in.
Prince Of Dreams is another entry who has not won but was placed in the last outing that he made.
