The Suspended Chantelle Cassidy misses the interprovincial tournament selection
Robin Fulton who is the Waikato Golf executive officer has confirmed the suspension of Chantelle Cassidy along with the state of affairs adjacent to it.
According to latest reports, the suspended individual is a seventeen year old female golfer who allegedly recorded a wrong score at a national tournament.
The suspension was further discussed on the 25th of November by the Waikato Golf executive officer who stated that there had been concerns over Cassidy’s behaviour earlier as well but he would rather not comment on it
much.
Cassidy is regarded as one of the first rate golfers from Waikato and was caught cheating at a national Stroke play championship. She was the golf representative there and falsified her score at the New Zealand Women's Amateur
Strokeplay Championship.
The strokeplay match was held in the month of April where the seventeen year old faced a rather embarrassing DQ after the New Zealand Golf appeal. The appeal was followed by a disciplinary committee convene who reviewed the situation
and affirmed the disqualification.
The suspension thus kept the seventeen year old from being selected for the national women's interprovincial golf tournament line-up this year. Cassidy had been the member of the team that won third place last year in 2009.
The women's interprovincial golf tournament discussed earlier will be held in Wellington from the 30th of November and is reported to initiate without its shielding backer Cecilia Cho this time.
As far as November 25th is concerned, the executive officer didn’t comment much on Cassidy’s suspension and said that it’s better to move on than to discuss the already buried.
However, Fulton did confirm that Cassidy’s behaviour had been a matter of concern earlier as well.
From Cassidy’s side, Fulton said that the female golfer has learned her lesson. He said that what happened in the past is dead and gone and since the DQ, there has been near to nil issues regarding Cassidy and her behaviour.
“She has put the incident behind her” Fulton said.
Cassidy’s future plans involve a representative selection scheduled for next season. The selection will be held in the month of January where the seventeen year old will be trying for a place in the Waikato team.
In spite of the suspension, Cassidy did play the Champion of Champions tournament that was held in Waitomo and managed to win the 2010 event.
Despite the absence of Cassidy, Waikato is carrying over a rather brawny team to the women’s interprovincial tournament. The event will be held at the Miramar Golf Course on Tuesday.
