What were some of the venues thar were built for the Sydney Olympics and how is this a benefit to the people of Australia now?

Most of the olimpic games dont benifit the contery. it has been proven that more than likly the contry that holds them will actually loses more money than it makes.

The Olympic Stadium at Homebush Bay plus heaps of other sporting and other infrastructure.  Its beneficial I suppose as having world class sporting facilities is great for sports development etc, however the debt incurred to fund these faciltities (especiallly for a small economy like Australia) makes their true worth perhaps not that great.

At the end of the sydney games there was a lot of concern about how these venues would be used.

The olympic stadium had nothing booked after the Olympics, but because of superior public transport and facilities it now hosts most major sporting events and finals in Sydney.

Other centres get regular use and put sydney on the world map for sporting events (they use the same facilities for World championship events such as diving, atheletics and so on).

Some venues, like the beach volley ball were removed quickly.

Due to public attention, and sponsorship deals an olympics usually is a net gain for the community. Most countries have a post olympics dip (because of lack of new infrastructure) but in reality the economy usually continues to grow.

Sydney had no dip, for a whole range of reasons. While Sydney's economy is fairer badly compared to other cities, this is due to businesses and people heading off to other cheaper cities to live. In addition Australian toursim is in a bit of a non growth period and that might have been because Australia was already a very popular destination.

China has a 20% growth in tourism but its economy is slowing due to restrictions on visas leading up to the Olympics. Basically, China has gained so much negative exposure due to its Beijing run rules that make business choose to check other places to do business.

Homebush bay is now a major sporting complex and the stadium is the home ground to a good handful of local NRL clubs.

Several of the other permenant structures are used for training and local enjoyment and other events - for example the rowing complex in Penrith is used locally for events such as Australia Day, Christmas and New Year events, people strain there and the annual regatta is also held there.
