Cristiano Ronaldo
He came to Old Trafford in 2003, he was signed for almost twelve and a half million pounds and at the time he was only an eighteen year old youngster who had not become the Cristiano Ronaldo that we know today.
On the national level the player seemed to climb the ladder as he became a part of the under twenty national team in 2003 then the under twenty one team in 2003, then the under twenty three team the following year.
He finally made it into the Portuguese first national team squad in 2003, since then he has made seventy nine appearances for Portugal and in the process scored twenty five goals. But it is no secret that this player focuses much more on his league than
the national side as when he was made a part of the World Cup squad and scored in a match against North Korea which was his first international goal in over a year.
Initially when Cristiano Ronaldo came to Old Trafford he asked for the number twenty eight shirt from Sir Alex Ferguson as he felt he could not live up to the number seven shirt but the Scottish manager gave it to him anyways as a piece of extra motivation.
His first appearance for the Red Devils came as a substitute, with him scoring his first goal against Portsmouth in the November of 2003. Ronaldo also had a lot to do with the Red Devils FA Cup victory against Millwall in their finals match.
Cristiano Ronaldo also had the honour of scoring Manchester United’s one thousandth goal in the English Premier League. He won three English Premier League titles with Manchester United, two league cups, a Champions league title and a FA Cup.
He came to Old Trafford as a talented young eighteen year old for twelve and a half million pounds and then when he left for Real Madrid he went for eighty million pounds which is the highest profit transfer deal in history and now this Portuguese is ranked
as one of the world’s best players.
