The Top Potential Transfers in 2010
With the transfer window coming to a close soon, there are still a lot of potential transfers that could still go through.
First on the list is Barcelona forward, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He has made, forty one appearances for the club so far and found the net twenty one times. The Swedish international has a mixed season at Barcelona. He came to Camp Nou, as a result of a player plus cash deal, which saw Samuel Eto go the other way to the San Siro. Barcelona recently purchased David Villa, from Valencia, making Ibrahimovic surplus to the clubs requirements. Potential destinations for the player would include, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Steven Pienaar, who is currently Everton’s player of the season, has managed to score ten goals in the span of a hundred and six appearances for the club, which is excellent considering he is not even a striker. He knows how valuable he is to the team and he is using this to his advantage by making unreasonable demands for better wages. Everton would most probably try to off load the player as soon as the right offer comes for him. Clubs that are interested in the South African are Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United.
Edin Dzeko has scored an astonishing seventy four goals in a hundred and twenty appearances for Wolfsburg. This outstanding goal scoring record has caught the eyes of the top clubs in Europe. Wolfsburg have slapped a price tag of around forty million on the striker in order to gain a maximum profit off his sale. Clubs that are interested in the prolific forward are Chelsea, Manchester City and AC Milan.
The thought that Steven Gerrard would ever end up playing for a team other than Liverpool was something no one could imagine. But another season of under achievement has left the Liverpool Captain with a lot of planning to do. So the question is not whether he will leave or not, but where he’s going to go. Clubs that have shown interest in the thirty year old are, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
One of the few English players who didn’t kill his career at the World Cup was Ashley Cole. The Chelsea defender just went through a very public divorce. He recently expressed his interest to transfer to a team outside England in order to avoid being targeted by media speculation. Clubs that are interested in signing the twenty nine year old include, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Madrid are now currently managed by Jose Mourinho and Cole previously played under Jose when he was manager at Chelsea.
Joe Cole was released from his contract with Chelsea on the first of July. This release has made the England international the most wanted free agent in the market. Cole has scored forty goals in the two hundred and seventy appearances he has had for Chelsea. Manchester United have withdrawn their interest in their player which means that the battle for to capture the English players signature, would be waged between Arsenal and Tottenham.
Fernando Torres joined Liverpool for the purposes of playing top level football. With Liverpool not even in the Champions League next season, Torres will have a lot to think about. Roy Hodgson has said that it is one of his top priorities to retain the player and make him stay at Anfield. This only means that the player has already made his decision to leave. Clubs that would love to add the player to their roster include, Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona.
Arguably the most confusing transfer of the season would have to be that of Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas. The skipper doesn’t seem sure as to what he wants to do, he must finally decide whether he wants to leave or to stay. Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he does not wish to sell the player, whereas Barcelona have made it their top priority to sign on the player. Everyone will have to wait till the end of the transfer window to see who wins this old fashioned tug of war for the player.
