The Top Twenty Five Contenders for The EPL Player Of  The Year – Part 4

John Terry – Chelsea, Centre Back: Carlo Ancelotti once said that John Terry was born to wear the captain’s armband and most people will have a hard time arguing with that.
Not even mentioning his personal life, the player has been noted to play his heart out on the field. Even when his form dipped a little when his personal endeavours came out in the media, this man continued to lead the team on the field and be a symbol of
inspiration for Chelsea.
With Ricardo Carvalho’s leave for Real Madrid, Terry has become the centre of defence. He has been consistent throughout the season so far and his talents are well known.
Right now Chelsea is a very hard team to take down and with Captain Terry holding the reins. He remains to be a key player and plans to defend the title and bring it home once again this year.
Florent Malouda - Chelsea, Winger: Florent Malouda has transformed himself into one of the finest wingers in the Premiership. He has been nothing short of outstanding this season and has scored as many goals as Didier Drogba which
is a very big achievement.
His chemistry on the field with Ashley Cole has been a major factor in this achievement. He troubles the opposing team’s defences with his incisive passing abilities, his point crosses and it wouldn’t even be shocking if he scores as many as twenty goals
this season.
Dimitar Berbatov – Manchester United, Striker: Dimitar Berbatov was actually linked to a possible leave from Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson was intent on keeping this player a part of Manchester United. This came out of two reasons,
first being that the boss believed that this player was capable of much more and because the club initially bought him for thirty million pounds from Tottenham Hotspurs.
Berbatov had not been having a good time at Old Trafford untill this season, when he has become an esential part of the team and a goal scoring machine.
He scored a hat-trick in the match against Liverpool and this is the first hat-trick by a single striker against Liverpool since 1946. The player has already scored six goals in a total of five matches that he has played, including a crucial goal against
Everton.
His epic volley against Liverpool shows why Sir Alex Ferguson spent so much money on him and then did not want him to leave. If Dimitar Berbatov keeps up his form then he may become this seasons driving force towards the League title.
Thomas Vermaelen – Arsenal, Centre Back: The Gunners arguably made one of the best signings of last season when they bought Thomas Vermaelen, the Ajax Captain into their ranks.
He is not one of the tallest defenders out there but he is very talented and quickly became Arsenal’s player of the season as soon as he got there.
His control with the ball is better than most strikers and he has great aerial abilities. He made an amazing debut in the English Premier League and keeps showing just why Arsenal brought him in.
With Mikael Silvestre, William Gallas and Col Campbell’s leave from the club Vermaelen is the key rock in Arsenal’s defence. The new singings will be a new addition to the wall at the back of the field as the new signings include Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien
Squillaci.
Vermaelen has quickly become a key player and his leadership skills just may be what Arsenal needs to win the league title that the club so desperately needs.
