The Top Twenty Five Contenders for the EPL Player of the Year – Part 2
Fernando Torres – Liverpool, Striker
This talented Spaniard has been out of shape for some time now and his recent injuries have got him worried. He played a poor form in the World Cup for Spain that resulted in the player staying mostly benched for the last two matches of the World Cup.
He has also been struggling for Liverpool this season but one thing that makes this player stand out is that the only match that Liverpool has won so far was a result of a goal scored by Torres.
Fernando Torres needs to put his bad form behind him and most believe that if Fernando brings back his true form, then Liverpool can once again become the unstoppable club that it once was and will have a real chance of moving onto the champions’ league.
Mikel Arteta – Everton, Midfielder
Mikel Arteta is thought to be one of the most talented midfielders in the premiership and most football pundits believe that if there is any one that can bring back Everton from their horrible start, then it’s Arteta.
The player missed a huge part of last season because of injuries but was excellent when he returned. He has commendable creativity, range, passing abilities and vision.
Mikel Arteta has become the temporary captain in the absence of Phil Neville; he also scored the equalizer in Everton’s match against Manchester United to finish the match with a score of three to three.
Joe Hart - Manchester City, Goalkeeper
This young English man has established himself as a first choice goalkeeper for both the English national team and Manchester City. Joe Hart is continuing his extraordinary form and has returned to Arsenal to replace Shay Givens as the first keeper.
Ignoring the error that he made against Blackburn, this keeper has been nothing short of amazing, winning the man of the match title in the encounter with Tottenham Hotspurs. He also excelled in games against Liverpool and is still a part of the English
national team.
Yaya Toure - Manchester City, Midfielder
Yaya Toure was brought into Manchester City by Roberto Mancini and Barcelona sold this player for something close to twenty five million pounds.
There also have been reports that he is one of the highest-paid players in the EPL, and it is quite clear why Mancini wanted this player so desperately, at any cost. The manager was ready to pay almost anything for him, as Yaya Toure literally adds steel
to the midfield in the match and is also gifted at creating chances in the match.
Yaya Toure has had a very successful career; he has won numerous major trophies and has gained invaluable experience. He is already a talented athlete and a vital part of Manchester City.
Michael Essien – Chelsea, Defender
This African player has made himself into one of Chelsea’s backbones and is a regular starter for the club.
He was injured for a large part of last season, though he quickly returned to his best form and started contributing for Chelsea once again.
The fact is that this player adds steel to the midfield and after the exit of Michael Ballack, Essien’s role became even more important. He is a great passer and is very adapted to making opportunities for the attackers at the right time. Adding to this,
he is very good at breaking the opposing team’s attacks.
