The Top Twenty Five Contenders for the EPL Player of the Year – Part 3
Adam Johnson - Manchester City, Winger
Adam Johnson is without a doubt one of England’s best; he became a part of Manchester City in January, after his move from Middlesbrough.
He was not made a part of the World Cup squad but has put in great performances for Manchester City. Even after the club brought on so many new faces, this player has managed to hold on to his original position and has not been sidelined.
This winger has also played for the English National team, and his future seems to be on a steep curve and only getting better with time.
Adam Johnson has proved that he can create havoc on the field and stop even the best attackers out there; he can run tricks and finish accurately.
This season will give him ample opportunities to prove himself and find a permanent spot in the first national team.
Marouane Chamakh – Arsenal, Striker
Marouane Chamakh’s signing has been long-linked with Arsene Wenger, and this former Bordeaux player came to Arsenal in the summer on a free transfer.
Right now, he is in the running for the best free signing for this season, as he has already scored three goals for Arsenal and netted three winning penalties as well.
Arsenal was always worried with Robin van Persie’s injury problems, but now as they have Chamakh, the Gunners can relax a bit regarding this matter.
Chamakh is going to boost Arsenal’s attack, the vital part that the Gunners lacked last year. The player has grown accustomed to the clubs style of play and has become a crucial part of the team.
Ashley Cole – Chelsea, Left Back
Ashley’s Cole’s personal matters have been under some scrutiny from the English media, though it does not seem to affect the player that much and definitely not to the point that it will show its repercussions on football.
He has been a superb player playing for Chelsea, and still to this day is considered to be one of the most important parts of the defending Premier league Champions.
Ashley Cole reads the game well and is a strong tackler. He is even regarded by Cristiano Roanaldo as one of the toughest leftbacks that he has gone up against.
Darren Bent – Sunderland, Striker
The Ghanaian International player Asamoah, Gyan was signed by Sunderland for something around thirteen million pounds. This move was made to strengthen the teams attacking positions. But one thing that remains with Sunderland is that Darren Bent will still
be the most important player in the team.
Bent has proved himself to be one of the most consistent players of the league. Last season ended with him scoring twenty four goals and having the second highest goals in the English Premier League, second only to Wayne Rooney.
Though Bent did not get included England’s World Cup squad but the fact remains that if he continues doing what he is doing right now, then he will become a permanent member of the national first team for sure.
Rafael Van Der Vaart – Tottenham Hotspurs, Attacking Midfielder
Rafael Van Der Vaart got signed from Real Madrid to Tottenham Hotspurs this summer for a bargained price of eight million pounds, only in the last few minutes of the transfer window.
Rafael Van Der Vaart adds a lot of creativity to the team and has experience playing for elite clubs and his Championship league experience will be almost invaluable to the club.
The player has created a good relationship with a team and already looks like a part of it. He does show flashes of his true brilliant form.
Harry Redknapp struck an amazing deal by getting this playmaker for such a low price, and this Dutchman is going to have his lasting effects on the club.
