The Top Twenty Five Contenders for the EPL Player of the Year – Part 6
Frank Lampard – Chelsea, Midfielder
If there was one word to describe Frank Lampard’s role in Chelsea then it would be his consistency. Lampard has netted more than twenty goals every season for the last five seasons now.
He has won numerous awards including Player of the Year awards as well. He has a healthy assist rate as well and this is a hallmark of an ideal attacking midfielder.
The player has been temporarily benched this season due to injuries but as soon as he returns to his full form then he will be an integral force in the team. He has vision, great shooting abilities and a great passing range.
Steven Gerrard – Liverpool, Midfielder
The English national team and Liverpool captain has been a disappointment thus far, though the player does shine from time to time for example, recently he performed well in Liverpool’s match against Manchester United. There were
only two goals scored from the Reds and both came from Steven Gerrad, one resulting from a penalty and the other from a free kick.
One thing that is almost undisputed is that Gerrard has the ability to lift Liverpool on his own accord. He is the type of player that has the rare ability of becoming a one man show and gives his team a win only on his own endeavours.
Steven Gerrard seems to be committed to Anfield in spite of their disappointing season. His play is passionate towards his club which at times is very inspirational for other players.
This attacking midfielder was not in his best shape last season but this season the tides have changed and he keeps attaining respect as the season progresses.
Steven Gerrard is pushing all ends and leaving nothing out to make sure that Liverpool makes at least the Champions league spot this season.
This thought does seem a bit farfetched as right now Liverpool are ranked sixteenth in the English Premier league and some football pundits have gone as far as to say that Steven Gerrard is a ‘Fail’ player as he keeps on ruining
his career by continuing to stick with a club such as Liverpool when the player could be achieving so much more. Still, there are some out there that believe this attribute of the player to be the noblest of all and something that only true footballers have.
Cesc Fabregas – Arsenal, Midfielder
Cesc Fabregas is without a doubt one of the best attacking midfielders in the English Premier league, if not the whole world.
This twenty three year old Spaniard is an inspirational captain of the Gunners and is argued to be the most vital part of the team.
His presence on the field has been known to inspire other players to play better than they normally do and this is the main reason why a lot of people say that Arsenal will finally win a league title that they so desperately need
and that all depends mainly on Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas missed a large chunk of last season because of his injuries and still had the highest total of assists and goals scored for Arsenal.
He has also been the subject of much transfer talk in the last few years though he has committed to Arsenal for at least another season.
Cesc Fabregas wants to make this his best season at the Emirates both on a personal level and for the clubs betterment as they have done so much for him to make him into the player that he is today.
