Top 25 Players in Spanish La Liga – Part 4
Article Continued from Part 3.
…Jesus Navas (Sevilla)
He has remained a part of the Spanish national team since his days at the under twenty one team in 2004 making it to the first national team squad in 2009.
He has made 10 appearances in the Spanish national team and a single goal, the fact of the matter is that there have never been doubts about Navas’s abilities on the football field. He was a star in his first season playing professional football when he
was only eighteen years old and he was offered a move to Chelsea.
However, he suffers from chronic homesickness and can’t travel away from home. He actually walked out of training camps in Spain as they were too far away from Sevilla. Adding to that he also suffers from anxiety and, due to this problem, was also not able
to make his international debut before.
Navas has amazing pace and a very formidable footwork. He was also a part of the Spanish national squad in the World Cup and contributed to the World Cup win.
If it was not for his chronic homesickness and anxiety, Navas would have surely made a mark in the Football world but still many think of this player as one the greats currently playing in LA LIGA.
20. Luis Fabiano (Sevilla)
Luis Fabiano is a 30 year old Brazilian that currently plays for Sevilla. He started his professional football career in 1997 with Ponte Preta then after spending 3 years with them he moved to Rennes. After a relatively quiet 1 year spell with them he moved
to Sao Paulo.
He remained in Sao Paulo for 3 years 2001-04 and got noticed by F.C Porto. He transferred to Porto in 2004. But like his previous short spells with clubs, after 22 appearances and 2 goals scored he made a move yet again to Sevilla in 2005.
Since then Fabiano has settled firmly in Sevilla and has been a part of the team for the last five years. He has made 136 appearances for the club and has netted 64 goals.
He has also been a part of the Brazilian national team since 2003 and has made 43 performances with them scoring 28 goals.
He is the second Brazilian to have the number-25 shirt and his career practically seemed to be over when he spent a disastrous year in France. He moved from Ponte Preta to Rennes and finding it difficult to adjust there, quickly moved to Sao Paulo.
His time with Sao Paulo was very fruitful as he made 87 appearances with them and in that endeavor scored 61 goals; this resulted in a ten million Euro move to Porto.
Fabiano again had difficulty adjusting in Portugal and made a move to Sevilla only after appearing 22 times for the Portuguese club. Since moving to Sevilla Fabiano has proved himself to be one of the best strikers in all of Europe.
The striker has had five very rewarding seasons playing in Sevilla and has maintained a scoring rate of one goal every two games played. He has power, pace, finishing skills and decent dribbling abilities.
Apart from that, he is also a true example of a player that has matured in every single club that he has played in and brings back something from every club that he leaves. He is currently surrounded by rumors about him making a move to the English premier
League and there is no doubt that all the top teams in the BPL will be keeping a close eye on him.
