How does casting work for these type of movies? Since they dont have open call what do they do? How do they know where to start when looking for actors and actresses? I see they have Kristen Stewart who is famous and then they Solomon Trimble (Sam Uley) who is not so how does it work?!?

Are you able to send in resumes like other castings?

  1. You need an agent, or to be part of a well known acting group usually. If you're in a drama school, ask there.

  2. They have all of the actors names and pics, [i think] at www.twilightnovel.com or at www.stephaniemeyer.com

  3. Most people in this film and others like it have all been to acting school so they will be in acting school or will have finished it and probably have an agent and then they will see there is auditions or there agent will ask them to go to auditions and that is how they get the part.

  4. You need an agent.

  5. Sometimes the author also gets a say.  In the case of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliff was picked out of a crowd that wasn't even trying out.  The author will sometimes give the casting director what actor they have in mind.  This serves as a guide.  In the case of the one that plays Edward, I think he was asked to play the part.  No audition.

I am pretty sure the best way to start out though is to find a good agent.  Sometimes announcements are only made known to agents.  This limits the number of people who show up to audition and makes the job of selection less daunting.
