  1. California has the largest population and thus the largest number of members of the House of Representatives - now at 53.

    After the 2010 census it will probably go to 54 or 55!

    Also, having the Speaker of the House be a Californian helps!


  2. Its based on population as to how many representatives a state gets; so it would favor larger populated states like New York.

    The Senate favors smaller states, since every state gets equal representation (2 Senators apiece) regardless of size.
