The UK Open ends, big names have been disappointing!
The UK Open re-defined darts with the most unexpected results of the entire season.
Names like Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis, Simon Whitlock and James Wade did not perform as expected and disappointed fans all over the globe.
Adrian Lewis was a name that never surfaced at the UK Open, he got a couple of early wins but just like the McCoy’s Premier League, he made an early exit. It has been a very bad season for the former World number one, as he has been out of his touch far
too long.
Simon Whitlock is the name that took the headlines by storm, with his performance at the McCoy’s Premier League last month. He threw Adrian Lewis out of the Premier League by beating him fair and square in one of the most epic battles of the season.
“The Wizard”, later on, reached the final of the Premier League and lost to Phil Taylor.
Even with the defeat, Whitlock looked promising for the UK Open. However, he could not keep his consistency intact. He made an early exit and left the UK Open with a bad taste in his mouth.
James Wade also remained in disappointing form, as the two-time UK Open winner could not pull-off a hat-trick. He seemed confident before the UK Open and claimed that he will win the tournament for the third time but failed to do so.
Another name that was the biggest disappointment of the entire UK Open is Phil “The Power” Taylor.
This man is considered as the best darts player ever to have lived. After his win at the McCoy’s Premier League, Taylor seemed tired and exhausted, yet, looked forward to the UK Open.
He may have reached the final but his performance at the mega event final was bad. He lost the UK Open at the hands of Robert Thornton, a rookie.
Thornton dominated Taylor and took home his debut UK Open trophy, while shocking the world.
The top players in the darts world are out of their individual touch and new comers are creating history. This is the time when players like Taylor, Lewis and Wade require a re-boot as dart throwers.
