  1. GOOD.   it keeps people in line and obedient.

  2. pure evil

  3. Good.

    GOD bless

  4. Very, very bad.

  5. well i don't like the term religious...because it fails to distinguish the religions of the world as if they are all the same...the west has a Christian influence world view and some of the richest people in the world...islam dominates the middle east...and they some of the poorest people in the world...so...since it Christianity...i think its a good thing...

  6. probably good, it brings in different perspectives onto any issue

  7. People are flocking to get in not out, That should tell you  something.

  8. i think it is semi good, but i think the usa is still mainly christian and based on christianity! and of course that bothers SOME of us from different religions.

  9. It's bad because religion is a belief in something that isn't real.

  10. That is an odd statement to make about the U.S., and what standards are being used as a determinent. If anything, Iran or Saudi Arabia would be deemed more religious by any type of religious measure compared to the U.S.

To answer your second question, it is detrimental to American society. I would say that the American people as the most religious people in the Western World has caused problems for itself. With the creationist scramble for 'setting right' the education system, it has been a force in dumbing down students and expectations for 20 years now.

  11. it used to be a good thing.

  12. I think most Americans wear there religious affiliations the same way they do there political ones. Mostly in name only, I would be much happier living in the most spiritual country in the world as opposed to the most religious. Is it good or bad? I can only imagine what it would be like were it not for the abundance of fair weather believers. I think it would be much worse to be honest.

  13. It's the main reason why the US is sliding down from its prime position in the world to a second-rate power. We will soon be surpassed in science, technology, income, military power, and of course have already dumped our status as a nation with morals.

  14. bad religion is an ancient concept that doesn't really have a place in the world now

  15. don't know if it's good or bad but it sure is annoying

  16. hi dr;-)

il say its not good and its a good explanation for a lot of bad  things

  17. ONE OF THE MOST CHRISTIAN.

There are many more religious countries.

It's gotten us where we are today !!!

  18. Iam not from USA.

but if I read the news it makes me very afraid how many religious maniacs dominating the faith of people up there.

  19. bad.

  20. i think only people over 40 care about religion

    lol.

  21. Not very good I suppose!

Good article by the way. Thanks for the link.

  22. Bad.  Bad, bad, bad.

  23. It seems to be very bad.  The people who think of themselves as Evangelical Christians voted Mr. Bush into office in 2000.  With help from the crooked judges on the supreme ct.  A $500 billion surplus was stolen and turned into a $1.5 trillion debt--to Communist China.  We lost our economic soverignty to a bunch of Communist Commisars because Evangelical Christians just had to have their own President.  Oh and of course the war in Iraq which has now passed a million victims.  Thats a lot of blood on their "Christian" hands.

  24. 2Just because most americans attend church, doesnt make it religious.

  25. I don't know really but I would ask, who funded the study? What was the point of the study? Did the researchers have an agend? Also the researchers put religion and spirituality in the same category when most of us would say they are different. The US is a country of refugees. Islam, Judaism, Christianity etc. They all come from immigrants and new ideas and religions spring up rather frequently.

The study is interesting but I think its results don't prove much myself. A person can be highly spiritual and not consider themselves religious at all. Also, if you based your research on what people said they were, you have a built in problem. Many people consider themselves religious but do very unreligious things. How do you judge that.

    The study is rather irrelevant.

  26. Definitely bad. The secularized countries of Europe have lower crime rates, better education, universal healthcare, less homeless, less drug and alcohol problems, public transportation, environmental responsibility,a better distribution of wealth, a culture of arts and literature and an overall happier population.

The US has churches, sitcoms and fastfood.

    What do you prefer?

  27. i don't know

  28. it's good, because we have freedom of religion, so it's good that we choose to be religious. but i doubt we are the most religious.

  29. I don't have a problem with people being "religious". It is hypocrisy that bothers me. I also don't believe people should force their religious beliefs on others.

If American religiousness means trying to force others to bend to their religious and moral values, it is bad.

If American religiousness leads to the say as I do and not as I say mentality, it is bad.

If American religiousness means that anyone who does not agree with the majority of religious beliefs is labeled "evil", it is bad.

Given our place in the world right now, and what we are engaged in, I would say that, for the most part, it is bad.

  30. Its weird that US citizens think that only them are the world, and anything outside its borders dont exist!

Religion as it stands today is profane fire, and God is going to destroy it...including its followers.

  31. thats misleading, its above average not one of the most. Many countries have above 90%
