Who are our forefathers? Is anyone overlooked in this group? (Someone of the time period who should be counted among our forefathers) If you can find fitting examples of texts that invoke our forefathers I would appreciate it. Thanks.

  1. In the United States, the "Forefathers" are generally considered to be the group of people who advocated and struggled for Independence from Britain and the people who later formulated our system of government and our Constitution.  These would include, Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and the like.

  2. You can find a list of our forefathers on the following items

    Declaration of Independence

    Constitution

the graves at every battle sight of every man who fought and died so that you could have the privilege of being able to ask this question.

  3. Technically, our forefathers are our ancestors.

If you are a non-native American US citizen, you had an ancestor who came here from some other country.  They were your "founding forefathers" in this country.

As to other US forefathers, you can start with George Washington, John Adams, James Madison, James Monroe, Nathan Hale, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson.

  4. The men that signed the Declaration of Independence would be a good place to start.
