    You can't put a tariff on something that is not traded and there are definitely import tariffs. I would like to think the U.S. isn't stupid enough to put tariffs on exports, although I'm not sure.

    Some tariffs on exports are really applied due to political and strategical reasons - it helps to control specialization level, type of accumulating capital, thus partially affects development path.
