The Vaillant propane water heater on my boat needs a new thermocouple but don’t have a model identity no.?

Are you sure that you need a thermocouple?If you do then you are using the wrong type of heater,thermocouples are only used when you have a constant pilot flame.This very unsafe and against all marine regs.

Hey Rob.

Take it off and take it in and match it up to another one.  Your neighborhood gas pro guy should be able to match that up for in know time.  Him having it in stock is a whole different question....Make sure you turn off the gas before removing the part....When you replace it make sure you use some Teflon tape for the treads so the connection doesn't leak....

you can buy a universal thermocoupler if you're still not sure of the part number you need, they usually come with a couple of different fittings for the flame side fastenings and the threads are universal anyway.

Hi, punch into eBay, LP thermocouple or just thermocouple.  If you take the one from your heater you may be able to identify one that can be modified to suit your heater.  Failing that a replacement unit is available on there. I did notice a universal one on there.

This answer is no good, as I converted my narrowboat from propane hot water to "on demand" battery power.

The extra truck batteries in the locker where the propane was are quite happy, and a much safer proposition.

All is bolted down & passes the safety regs.

Ah, an immediate hot shower without fiddling on with gas !

Not expensive to convert, and I reccomend it.

There are enough problems on boats without fiddling with hot water !
