The Viking Classic 2010 hosts a number of hopefuls for the 2011 berth
The Viking Classic 2010 is scheduled from the 27th of September to the 3rd of October at the Annandale Golf Club. The event held in Madison, Mississippi will be catering to a five day fight, which includes numerous players fighting
for the dollar amount of $ 648,000 and the 2011 tour berth.
Many players such as John Daly, Chris Stroud, the American John Merrick and Sweden’s Henrik Stenson will be appearing in the 132 player field. Along with these players, Jeev Milkha Singh and Ryuji Lmada are the international hopes.
First we have John Daly, who has his focus on ending his defeats so that he would become eligible for the next year’s tour. At the Viking Classic, he has his hopes up to remove his six year title drought and to move up the money index. According to his statistics,
Daly may move from spot number 194 into the list of 125, who may earn a spot next year.
John Daly is the winner of the 1995 British Open and the 1991 PGA Championship winner and has been able to make 12-17 cuts this year. Other than making the cuts, he has been able to make the top 40 only once and has collected the dollar amount of only 140,295.
If Dally doesn’t make the final line-up of the prize money, he says he won’t be playing the tours qualifying event.
After Dally there is Chris Stroud, who stands at 125th place in the money list. This player has collected a dollar amount of 611,069 till now and is also aiming for the 2011 berth. Last year, Stroud finished on the 113th spot which
led him to claim a spot and was forced into the qualifier event three times in a row.
John Merrick stands on spot number 126. The American holds $11,834 in his hands and is known to be in a rather excruciating spot. The man from Sweden, Henrik Stenson, is standing on spot number 122 at the money index. He is the winner of the Players Championship
of 2009, which has led him to attain the line-up of 2014.
Lee Jimnez, who is the winner of the US Open two times along with Chris DiMarco, who has been the US Ryder Cup player, will also be looking forward for a place next month.
Among the acceptable international lot, golfers like Jeev Milkha Singh and Ryuji Lmada appear wishful. The Indian and the Japanese are seen standing on spot number 167 and 108 in the money listing and are striving to achieve next year’s berth as well.
