The WWE Champion, John Cena, leads the WWE Rankings
The Academy of Wrestling Arts and Science updated the Power 25 list for the week of June 19 to June 25. The WWE Champion, John Cena, attained the top position again in the current week’s ranking. He jumped from the fourth position to first in the current
list due to his tremendous performance this week.
The list was updated according to three events including ‘Capitol Punishment’, Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown. The WWE Champion was engaged in a championship fight against R-Truth for ‘Capitol Punishment’ on Sunday, June 19. R-Truth tried
his best to win the match from Cena, but could not succeed. The WWE Champion made an amazing comeback at ‘Capitol Punishment’ by winning the title match.
Moreover, one day after ‘Capitol Punishment’, The Anonymous Raw General Manager announced a six-person tag-team match named ‘The Elimination Tag-Team Match’. The match was announced between the team of The WWE Champion, John Cena, The World Champion,
Randy Orton and Alex Riley and the team of R-Truth, The Miz and Christian. The WWE Champion was the only superstar who was not eliminated till the end of the match. He eliminated Christian on the last by applying STF on Christian. The WWE Champion was not
only the winner of ‘Capitol Punishment’, but also was unbeatable during main event of Monday Night Raw.
Due to both the tremendous victories, The AWAS decided to put Cena on top of the WWE Rankings. On June 27, Cena was put into the fight against R-Truth again in a non-title match. Cena lost the fight due to interruption of CM Punk. Ranking for that
fight will be calculated on July 2 and there are chances that Cena would be dropped to the third place again due to that defeat. Additionally, Punk has also won the number one contender fight for WWE Championship against Alberto Del Rio and Rey Mysterio. Punk
will be the next opponent at WWE Pay-Per-View event ‘Money in the Bank’. Punk stated that he would leave WWE after ‘Money in the Bank’ and he would leave as a WWE Champion.
