Telltale’s video game adaptation of the popular graphic novel and the AMC television series is set to infect the PlayStation 3 on the 24th of April.
Telltale studios, the developers of the game, are doing things slightly different with their video game adaptation of the popular graphic novel series based on a group of survivors who find themselves battling for their lives against the Undead in a post-apocalyptic
world.
Instead of releasing the game as a full title, the studio plans on releasing over the course of a few months in episodic format, similar to how the graph novel and television series are released.
Episode 1 of the Walking Dead will hit the PlayStation Network on the 24th of April as a digital only download and Jake Rodkin, the game’s designer and writer, explained how the game would offer an experience that the studio has never provided
before.
"One major way that the game differs from previous Telltale offerings is that your decisions, through action and dialog that you choose, will have huge repercussions on how you experience the story of the game, but more on that later.”
He continued to point out the game would not be taking any influence from the popular TV series but rather would is based on the comics and nothing else. “One thing you should know from the start is that our game series is based strictly on the world seen
in the comics; in fact, the story seen in our game is officially canon to the comic books."
The game is set to have five episodes in total yet one can expect more if the game proves to be a success.
The first episode, scheduled for release on the 24th of April, is titled, ‘A New Day’. Episode two and three are titled, ‘Starved for help’ and ‘Long Road Ahead’, while the fourth episode is, ‘Around Every Corner’. All those episodes will be released
before the finale, ‘No Time Left’.
Telltale certainly has everyone’s interest at this point and early reviews of the first episode are pretty decent to say the least, yet we will reserve our judgement when we have the game running on our consoles.
As for price, well the game is set to cost 4.99 EUR a pop or 19.99 EUR for all five episodes.
