The War on Drugs!!!?

Most of the worlds heroin is in Afghanistan.NATO is there,so burn the Poppy fields.Don't give me the poor farmer c**p.BURN THE FIELDS and stop the drug trafficking terrorist. ok rant over. tell me WHY NOT?

I'm glad that we are doing something like that as Jeffry B stated. We seem to need more...I don't know why people want to trow their lives down the toilet for drugs.

Cocaine seems to be a big problem too. Where does it come from? I wish we could burn a bunch of  coca plants in South America.

We really need to start treating addicts and trying to break the demand. There is a lot of supply. But if the demand goes down then eventually so will the supply. (You would hope anyway.)

I don't know that prisons are working. Maybe a treatment while in prison and a continuation after release. Education and job placement programs could help keep people from getting into drugs. I'm not sure about how to go about it.

It just seems like a huge problem in our society and we need to do something.  That question is would be more interesting if it was more broad than limiting the problem to Afghanistan. It is a world problem an will need a lot of support from all nations to control.

When I served in Afghanistan, the State Department WAS burning the poppy fields.  What makes you think they are not?

I agree.  We have napalm!  USE IT
