The Wave Muscat’s Torvar Mirsky beats Johnie Berntsson of Berntsson Sailing Team: 2011 Agro Gold Cup
After a tussling final encounter at the 2011 Agro Group Gold Cup in Bermuda, The Wave Muscat’s Torvar Mirsky was able to beat Berntsson Sailing Team’s Johnie Berntsson by the score line of 3-2. The Australian, Mirsky, displayed some superb sailing skills
to nudge down his opponent after tough competition.
However, reaching the final match up, Berntsson has secured a place in the 2011 Monsoon Cup. With this title, Mirsky has claimed his second consecutive win in the 2011 World Match Racing Tour. Mirsky is quite happy to win the title second time in the tour.
While speaking to local media at the end of the event, Mirsky said, “We are over the moon with winning two titles in a row. We’ve never done that well in Bermuda and we’ve never had many Tour wins so this is fantastic, we’re really on a roll. I’m so proud
of the way the team sailed this week, everyone just knew what they were doing on board and we felt comfortable and confident.”
He added, “Johnie really tested us in the final which made for some great sailing. We are now close to Ian in the points and we have a big chance for the world title so we’ll be fighting for it! Hopefully we can keep on this roll and win in Malaysia too.”
On the other hand, the match for third and fourth places was won by Italy’s Francesco Bruni on Bruni Racing, who defeated New Zealand’s Phil Robertson of WAKA Racing to clinch third spot by the score line of 2-0.
