The Wave Muscat’s Torvar Mirsky happy to reach finals of 2011 Agro Group Gold Cup – Sailing news
Australia’s Torvar Mirsky of The Wave Muscat put forward an excellent performance in the semi-final of 2011 Agro Group Gold Cup against New Zealand’s Phil Robertson to book his spot in the finals of the event. He will be facing Berntsson Sailing Team’s Johnie
Berntsson, who ousted Francesco Bruni of Bruni Racing at Hamilton in Bermuda.
Mirsky battled against Robertson superbly under strong wind conditions and managed to take the WAKA Racing with ease by the score line of 3-0. The Australian is quite happy with the crew’s performance in the semi-finals and hopes to do well in the last match.
While talking to the media at the conclusion of semi-final clashes, Mirsky said, “The conditions were tough today and there were lots of shifts but the guys did a really good job and we have great composure onboard the boat. We managed to keep the boat going
fast around the course which really was key to beating Phil.”
He added, “Going through to the finals is a great for our World Championship chances as it should boost us up the table so we’re really happy with that.”
Meanwhile, Johnie Berntsson and Phil Robertson will be racing on October 10 for third and fourth places, while France’s Mathieu Richard of French Match Racing has already secured the fifth spot.
