The Weatherman expected to bounce back in John Wade Equine & Rubber Amateur Riders Novices´ Hurdle at Sedgefield
The Weatherman is likely to come hard at his rivals in the John Wade Equine & Rubber Amateur Riders Novices´ Hurdle, taking place at Sedgefield on Friday, April 13, 2012.
After displaying a few brilliant performances at the start of his career, The Weatherman suddenly lost his momentum. In his last outing, the five-year-old failed to come up with anything impressive.
As a result of his below par show, he finished eighth in the Mirror Punters Club E B F "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle (Qualifier) at Doncaster. An ordinary show might have dented his confidence to some extent, but no one should
doubt his extraordinary racing skills.
Donald McCain’s trainee does not have much time to gear up, as the show is about to begin. According to the program, the Class 4 meeting will get underway at 14:10 GMT.
Twelve quality runners will compete for a cash prize of £2,433. Their names are: The Weatherman, Wilde Pastures, Andy Vic, Asterisk, Billy Teal, Reasonable Force, Nahneh, Colorado Kid, Royal Curtsy, Legend´s Secret, Kirkaig
and Just Jordan.
The Weatherman made an excellent debut in May last year. John Smith's No Nonsense Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race saw him securing second position on the chart. He perpetuated his good work and registered two emphatic
victories later that year.
Although he was unable to do well on his seasonal return, one cannot afford to take him lightly. Among his opposition, Andy Vic looks the strongest contender.
The nine-year-old was impressive in his last two appearances. After grabbing a convincing triumph in February, he maintained good standard to ensure the runner-up place in the Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation Handicap Hurdle
in March.
Wilde Pastures is also likely to show a lot of determination on the track. Although the seven-year-old was not able to display anything decent last time out, the James Ewart-trained has guts to stun his rivals.
According to our calculations, The Weatherman has an obvious chance to grab the glory. However, it would not be an easy trip for the bay gelding, as Andy Vic is in good shape at the moment.
