The Web.com Tour rookie Shawn Stefani takes two weeks off
After playing eight of the last nine tournaments on the Web.com Tour, the rookie Shawn Stefani has decided to take two weeks off and spend some time at home.
According to the 30-year-old, he remained consistent throughout the season this year and surged to the 14th spot in the Web.com Tour’s official money list.
Virtually, it now looks that he will easily qualify for the tier-one PGA Tour for the 2013 golf season.
Therefore, he decided to spend some time off the golf course and recharge his batteries for the last three tournaments this year.
Talking to the Web.com Tour’s official website, he stated that he wanted to refresh his mind and body in order to make a strong finish to his debut season on the tour.
"The reasoning behind me getting to take the next two weeks off is I've put myself into good position," said Stefani, who won the Midwest Classic Presented by Cadillac last month. “It will also give me some time to get excited about the game again”.
During the initial weeks of his career on the Web.com Tour, the American was struggling with his form and was not able to find a proper solution to tackle the deficiencies.
He then met Dr. Richard Coop, a noted sports psychologist, who made him realize that there was no problem in his game. Instead, it was his mind that was creating hurdles in the way of his success.
Dr. Coop is the same person who used to work with Bo Van Pelt and Webb Simpson in the past.
Stefani told the reporters that he used to blame his swing technique for his poor performances in different tournaments. Rather, it was a completely different matter that he did not even think of.
"About halfway through the year I had missed a few cuts even though I had played pretty solid," Stefani said. "I decided to do something to get better and in golf it's usually a mental thing so I got in touch with Dr. Coop, who has worked with Bo Van Pelt and Webb
Simpson in the past”.
