The William Haggas trained Sholaan takes the money home in the Bond Tyres Trophy at York
Sholaan was a pleasant surprise for his supporters when he brought his best game forth in his most recent race.
With the use of a head-gear and blinkers, the William Haggas trained, Sholaan, landed a massive victory in the Bond Tyres Trophy at York on 16th June, 2012, where he was mounted by, Liam Jones.
The son of Invincible Spirit, out of mare Jazz Up, redeemed himself from the disappointing performance at Epsom.

On the six furlong soft track at York, Sholaan downed Denis Coakley trained Gabriel's Lad, by a massive margin of  5 lengths, while the third place was secured by the Charles Hills trained, Glen Moss.
The bay gelding impressed his connections with this victory, and it raised his esteem from the disappointing performance he delivered at Epsom in the seven furlongs long Investec Asset Management Handicap on 1st June, 2012,
where he finished in eighth place.
Despite the fact that the three-year-old raced as a longshot, he sealed the victory in a grand fashion.
The winning jockey was pleased with his performance and stated to the press that:
"He's a lovely horse, I won on him at Wolverhampton but he didn't handle the track at Epsom when Ryan Moore rode him.
"We weren't sure about the ground but he's by Invincible Spirit and they usually handle it.
"The blinkers were just to keep him straight more than anything as he ran around a bit at Wolverhampton.”
The rider commented that the runner was much better than handicaps and with enough experience and practice; he is capable of becoming a group horse.
Liam Jones secured his eleventh victory of the season which makes his record even more impressive. The jockey has not decided whether he will compete at Royal Ascot or not, but he might change his mind.
Jones had a big hand in guiding, Sholaan, to victory and he used his skill in the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Stakes (Registered As The John Porter Stakes as well, when he led the him to victory, over the Michael Bell trained, Allied Powers
by a large margin of five lengths at Newbury on 21st April, 2012.
