They will sign one more forward for a one year deal for under 2 to 3mil, if they can..... Then sign Filppula, Ericsson and Howard!

Quincey looks like the odd man out at this point! No roster space! Holland said once that is done, they will be left with 6 to 7mil for the Trade Deadline if needed.... Your thoughts?

Thats right, no Hossa, Sundin or Rolston! Holland needs that 5 to 6mil to extend ZATA and Franzen and Hudler next summer... You like?

  1. Ye of little faith.  They'll be good again next year.  They're not done by a longshot.

Fiscal responsibility has been one of the keys to their success.

EDIT:  Oh, I thought you meant done as in team no good anymore.  My bad.  I feel the team's doing the right thing.  They payoff will be when the continue to be a major contender and resign all the key players again next year.

  2. Nope...

    I LOVE

  3. Looks like it. With them re-signing Stuart (wo-hoo!) they are sitting pretty! What's this I see about them inking Conklin also? If it's possible, they may be stronger next year than they were this year.

My only disappointment was in them re-signing Lilja. I know they got him cheap, but I think for a little more they could have done better. He made too many critical mistakes for my liking.

  4. im not happy about the fact we are gonna lose Downey. he needs to be re-signed.

  5. I like it. Acquiring Stuart at the deadline was pivotal for the Wings in the SC Playoffs, signing him for 4 years is even better, especially after rumors/thoughts that he wouldn't be  back.

Getting Conklin is a slap in the face to the Pens and sets up Howard to play another year in GR and gain yet another year of experience. It is up to him to have a stellar season.  Osgood has a couple more years left and should play near as well. Also allows them time to re-start that "cycle" of grooming future talent, (McCullom) which also solidifies the Wings flexibility in goal for years to come.

Overall Holland has done a decent job. He has kept the nucleus together for the most part, and it only favors the team more. It allows him to sit and continue to devleope his his future players and monitor and possibly potential needs.

  6. I like!!! In fact I'm thinking about becoming a Red Wings Fan since my Paitence is running out for the Yotes!!

My team is not being agressive enough to sign free big name great free agents and now that Chicago is going to be a contender and ruin the Coyotes chances of winning a cup, I now want to support a team that will win one!!

Got any room on the Red Wings Band wagon for a fed up and just maybe a no longer Coyotes fan NIPS??

  7. The Wings are set, we have the same roster that hoisted the cup but a better backup goalie.  Yep Conklin's better than Hasek.  Franzen was beginning to find his soft hands, Flip and Hudler are still in there early 20's.  We need an enforcer to replace Drake, and like I've been saying for 2 months bring in Owen Nolan.

    Why did Kenny resign Lilja?

Chicago is beginning to look like contenders, we'll have a fun year with LITY.

  8. I'm still confused over the Lilja re-signing.

It's too bad we couldn't get Sundin.  I was looking forward to a Franzen-Filpula-Sundin line.  Oh well.

  9. the wings are going to do amazzing again in the 08-09 season!!

  10. Nips the Wings are sitting really pretty right now. Enjoy that. Looks like you have the numbers right as well.

  11. Hi

Lilja is a good move in that he knows the system. He is a 5/6 d man on the wings.  Most other teams would be 3/4. He does make some errors, but the price was right. We are spoiled by our top dmen playing so well that we think average is bad.  I like Lilja in that I know who is going to be on the ice.  Game one through 82 if dressed, no learning curve. That's important for long term success.

    Thank You
