The Women of Troy and the Mason Rudolph Championship 2010
The Women of Troy played an excellent final round at the Mason Rudolph Championship and finished at a joint third place. The Legends Golf Club entertained this tie with a 16th ranked combination, which was the weakest participating team in the tournament.
Overall, the Gaston’s USC performance has been worth the money. In their last tournament, the team collected a total of 278 and ended on a 10 under. In total, the team playing in Franklin, Tenn. managed to card an 851 with a 13 under where the team finished
with scores of 286, 287 and 287 during the three rounds.
According to USC coach Andrea Gaston, the team played a focused game even though they didn’t enjoy a very good start. The coach said that the girls played an incomparable game and it felt really good to see the girls rally.
The Gaston USC team played the last round with a 10 under par which was marked as the best finish ever. Overall, the USC has had a successful past and the teams' history makes them a promising combination for future tournaments. Due to their achievements,
the club will be hosting the NCAA Championships in 2012.
The Women of Troy were led by Lisa McCloskey, who finished at fourth place. The junior finished her game in a tie at the fourth position at 5 under in hand. She collected a total of 209 with carding scores of 70, 72 and ending the third round with a remarkable
67 . The final round of the tournament had her scoring the lowest in the team and the tournament. She amazingly had only one bogey in her basket along with 6 birdies to go with it. McCloskey is a two time All-American Pepperdine who has played for the Women
of Troy and attaining the fourth place.
Then there is the senior Lizette Salas who played two bogeys in her last four holes. Salas had a very rough first round after which her comeback seemed good enough. Salas, after carding a score of 76, 68 and then a 70 in the three rounds of the championship
managed to end up at a joint 21st place. She finished with a 214 with a 2 under par. Among her four appearances at the Mason Rudolph, Salas has never managed to finish lower than the 25th position. A complete contrast to her last four
holes, her first nine seemed to go just fine for the final round. However, she birdied and got back on 2 under with a tie at the 21st position.
Junior Inah Park had her debut this season and finished on the 23rd spot. She finished her event with a 215 at one under. She carded scores of 71, 75 and 69 to wrap her last round. Her last round had a strong finish since she was able to attain
birdies at 17 and 18 as part of a 3 under round.
Cyna Rodriguez also finished her game at the 26th position and attained a score of 216. She carded a triple 72 with her bogey’s remaining consistent throughout the game. At the front nine, Rodriguez managed to card three bogeys while the same
situation was carded at the back nine.
According to Gaston, the team played a lights out game and played a remarkable final nine hole game as the top four of the team combined to go ten under which was marvellous to say the least. She says that the Women of Troy have 8 days till the Edean Ihlanfeldt
Invitational which will be held at the Tacoma Country Club. This event will be held from October 4th to October 6th and has many fans anticipating its start. After the team’s performance at the Mason Rudolph Championship, their feat at
the Tacoma Country Club will be one worth watching.
