The World Meteorological Organisation said global temperatures are going to drop in 2008?

How many years of the temperature dropping before you become convinced that so-called "global warming" is over?

  1. Global Warming has pretty much been debunked.

Even the so called "polar warming"  where the ice cap melted eary can be tracked to the el nino.  All part of the weather systems of nature.

Remember,  Al Gore is the same guy who took cridt for inventing the internet.

Many companies has a lot of money riding on making you do things to stop so called "global Warming"

The good news is that most credible people now realize it is bunk.

  2. Thank you Dr. Jello, you should really post a link so the nimble minded can see it. Oh Thank God, for "The Convenient Truth" see Gore changed the world already-haha. I'm sure he will take the credit.

  3. More than 10, certainly.  Anyway, as you well know last year was cool compared to the last decade, but quite warm compared to the last century.  The WMO is the other major participant in the IPCC besides the UN, for anyone who doesn't know.

In the same way I'd bet that you can pick one decade out of the history of any Major League Baseball team and prove that team a winner (just as you do denierism) regardless of their actual record.

  4. You're cherrypicking again.  They also said at least 2 years from 2010-2015 would be the hottest years on record.

I've told you what it will take to convince any scientist that global warming is over.  2 years in the blue region before there are 2 in the pink.

But you continue to refuse to accept this wager.

How ironic, you claim that temperatures are going to drop this year and in the next breath claim nobody can predict the future.  So which is it?  Are the WMO predictions valid for 2008 but not for 2010?

    Cherrypicker.

  5. Who cares?

It happened in 1982, 1991-1992, 1999-2000.  EVERY TIME global warming came back stronger than ever.  Proof.

As long as we keep making greenhouse gases in enormous amounts, global warming will dominate in the long run.  It's simple physics.

The heat, of course comes from the Sun.  But CO2 is like a blanket, trapping the heat and making us warmer.

Why is that concept so hard for "skeptics" to grasp?  We KNOW it's not an increase in solar radiation making us warmer:

climate forcings and the global mean surface

air temperature", Lockwood and Frolich (2007), Proc. R. Soc. A

  6. They also said it would go right back up. Dana is right! You are cherry-picking, as always. You can't pick just one part of a prediction, throw the rest of it away, and then say "I told you so."

  7. It's due to "La Nina".

Temperature averages will always go up and down. It's called natural variability. As long as the trend (the average for 5 years in a row) still points upwards I think they are very trustworthy in their predictions of global warming.

Once the 5 year average starts to show cooling, then I'll be confused and maybe a bit hopeful that global warming won't be as bad or worse than predicted.

People who doesn't understand the difference between short term weather and long term trends, either doesn't want to, or doesn't put enough efforts into understanding it or is plain stupid. Sorry for being blunt.

  8. All I know, is today is April 7th..and it snowed today.

It is not oging to be "spring" yet for at least a week here, expecting snow all week.

I know that isn't really normal, but it's for sure not global warming this year.

  9. I don' t know about the Gloable warming thingy but they say this Winter is gonna be the most cold winter ever!

Didn't you see...UK has been having heavy snowing! Check that out!

  10. It takes a lot of energy to make snow. Well, really it takes a lot of energy to get the water into the air, then when it snows that energy is released as heat in the upper atmosphere.

Very heavy snowfall does cool us down at ground level. and snow that persists on the ground does reflect a lot of light, so it can of itself affect climate if it is very widespread.

CO2 trapping heat does not work if the reflectivity of snow or of volcanic dust above the atmosphere keep light from coming in or being absorbed.

But the upper levels of the atmosphere will always be cold enough to make snow. If we have enough heat to vaporize water, we will sometimes have snow, sometimes rain. Rain and snow are evidence of heat of vaporization.

Now I have lived through many winters colder than this past one, so my perception is that this was not that cold. Yes, we got some wet snow several times, and it stayed on the ground for a while. Quebec got well and truly walloped with snow. It must have taken a lot of energy to make it.

I do not expect to see a major cooling event, but I know that we have been getting less insolation, so it could happen despite greenhouse effect. All these factors add together as vectors.

  11. If your going to trip an (extremist) up, just ask them "where the heat came from in the first place". One should expect all the normal responses.(1.) quantified heat storage systems. That's wonderful, but still doesn't justify the primary source. They are going to side step the sun as a primary factor till they die. Truly a new epoch of modern science. Maybe one that will explain why CO2 generates heat?  Isn't there a religion that worships darkness? In a nut shell, it's the solar output or the lack of that creates climate. You already know this so I guess by their definition it's a rant.

  12. Global temps have been slowly decreasing since 1998, just like global temps decreased steadily from 1940-1970 during a global CO2 boom.  Alarmists are kidding themselves.
