  1. Try commercial grade rust remover.  Before trying though-- put bleach into the toilet water (pretty hefty amount) and leave for a half hour or so... flush, and then add the rust remover.  Again, leave for at least 10-15minutes.  Scrub with the back side of a sponge (the scratchy surface, not the spongy surface).  If this does not work, try a bottle of white vinegar.  Pour it in, let it sit overnight, and go back in the AM to scrub it.  And... if that doesn't work... get new porcelain throne.

  2. Try caustic soda crystals, that should clear it but don't get it on your skin it is very corrosive.

  3. My trick is to add some water to the toilet 1st using a cup or pitcher. Not 2 much or it will flush itself. After you add the extra water, then put your bleach and stuff in the water, that way the "ring" is actually under water. Let it soak for a couple hrs then scrub it w/ some comet or like.

  4. I have rent houses and the first thing I do is pour straight bleach in the water (Half a bottle) and let it soak overnight - longer if you can. The there's this thing call a "Pumas Stick" It looks like a piece of concrete. It even feels like you are damaging the toilet surface it is so rigid - but it dissolves in water. This stick will form into the crevasses and clean everything out and make it pearly white.
