  1. If they are within striking distance, then they have a chance of winning the wild card.

  2. I will always say, they are still in the hunt for a play off spot & until mathematically eliminated, they still have a chance at wild card

  3. As a Sox fan I want to be biased but my answer would be the same.  I really don't see the Yanks getting the wildcard this year.  The AL is too tough.  This may be my heart talking but I really think that the Sox will over come the gap and win the AL East and the Rays will get the wildcard.  It won't be the same playoffs without the Yanks though.

  4. I still think the Yankees have a chance to get back in this.

  5. I hate to admit it, but they are very much alive.  They are getting players back while the Red Sox may have lost Beckett.  I haven't heard any news on that yet.

To make up five games in ftve weeks is certainly possible.  Twins will have to cooperate, though.

  6. Of course they do. They could get hot and pass the Red sox.

To That Guy Mel: Are you alright?

  7. Yes they still do. They will be getting Matsui back soon and Wang too.

  8. yeah, if they string a few 5-6 game winning streaks toegether and win key games against other AL wildcard teams.

  9. Well they are in striking range, but they really need to start beating teams that they should be beating, like the royals which should have been a sweep, and the blue jays. If they take care of business against the orioles which they should, and then they have boston at home. So if they were to win the next 6 games and i'll give the sox 1 win against the upcoming blue jays, cause they did lose 2 in a row. So if this was to happen the yanks would be within 1 or 2 games of the wild card.I really dont think its the red sox that the yankees need to worry about it, maybe cause im a yanks fan but i really think its one of the central teams that they need to worry about. And if the yanks happen to not make the playoffs, i just hope the red sox dont make it as well.

  10. You're expecting Yankee-haters to think intelligently, post objectively and actually give an answer that doesn't include "Yankees suck" or some reference to the Yankees' payroll (not unlike Mike Lupica)? Good luck.

Anyway, this team is entirely capable of making a run at the wild card. There's still five weeks left. Am I saying it's certain? No, especially not if you consider the way they've performed this year. But the fact the remains that it is possible. And anyone choosing to deny this is either biased or doesn't know anything about baseball. Or they're just praying a little too hard for the Yankees to fail.

    End.

  11. objectively i say no too many injuries

  12. My answer might feel a bit biased but I think they only have a very small chance of making it. It's just that the yankees don't seem to have much momentum this year to bring them further. Plus, their schedule and their division makes it very difficult for them to close in on the gap.

  13. Until they are mathematically out of it, of course they have a chance.

  14. geez, i dont think so, i dont even think the red soxs are gunna make the wild card....i hope the minnesota twins make the wild card :).....it be weird to have a playoff without red soxs or yankees....but lets be realistic, i dont think the Yankees are gunna make it even tho they are an ok team.....only thing i hope for is that the red soxs **** up :)

  15. I really dont think so.  It'll be very hard to frogleap the Red Sox and White Sox/Twins.

I just think they have enough left in them to make that type of run.

  16. yess they have a chance if they win games.

  17. I really don't think they do.

  18. Obviously they have a chance, they haven't been mathematically eliminated yet.  However, I don't see how they can move ahead of the Red Sox/Twins/White Sox.  In order to get to 91 wins, the Yanks will have to go 24-12 over the next 36(20 of those on the road).  They still have 6 games apiece with the Sox and Rays, 3 each with the Angels and White Sox, and 7 with the Jays.  Sorry, no playoffs Yankees fans.

  19. go Blue Jays!!!!!!!!!!!!
