said he will only start against lefties,,,ok, that's like what, ONCE A WEEK???? I am a Seattle Mariners fan and let me tell you this about big Richie, he HATES sitting. Girardi has to start him against some righties, that's only fair. I know they have been winning, but come on, put in the big s**y. You agree?

  1. The guy is lucky to play once a week.

Kidding aside, using him as a pinch-hitter late in games that he doesn't start would make sense, at least to make a team burn a righty out of the bullpen.

  2. Also a Mariners Fan here . . . I like Sexson too but his bat was dead for Seattle for two years . . .  good to see him getting some hits for the Yankees.  But let him earn it . . . if they need him they will put him in . . . otherwise let him earn their respect and a place in the lineup . . .

  3. But he stinx.

  4. It was a bad signing to begin with

Its good he will play once a week

  5. Sexson is decent against southpaws but useless -- PROVEN useless -- against right handed pitching.

The day Girardi starts Sexson against a RH pitcher, unless he absolutely has no other options (including activating the batboy), is the day he should be fired.

Hey, I'm completely in favor of the Yankees losing as many games as possible, so by all means insert Sexson in the lineup six times a week. Fine by me.

But he is well-established as being a disaster against RH pitching. Sexson against righties this season makes a decent argument in support of AL pitchers batting. He eats southpaws, but he's a free out against righties. If his many, many plate appearances with Seattle this season hasn't established that to your satisfaction, well, I don't know what to add. Again, it is okay with me if the Yankees want to lose, and playing Sexson against RHP will help that effort.

Unless there's more happening in that pinstriped locker room than the media reports, there is no reason to expect that the change of scenery is going to change his performance.

  6. Sexson understands his role. He knows he won't be starting against righties and he knows he can't hit righties. He'll play against lefties and come in late as a defensive replacement.

He lowered himself to take the league minimum just to play for the Yankees, you don't think he's really gonna cause turmoil there do you?

  7. They've won 5 in a row, and their offense is rolling again. Why rock it?
