well when i was younger, i had cancer. i need my left kidney removed because of the tumor. along with the tumor, my left kidney, i also needed my adrenaline gland removed. my question is, because of my gland being removed from 14 years ago, i play soccer and need to run. running is very important but i get tired very quickly. i do not understand, i run all the time but can go for short sprints. i can not run a mile without getting tired. my question is does this gland have to do with this or do i just have to run more. i would appreciate if someone could let me now my disadvantages of not having this gland. thanks

  1. Function of the adrenal glands:

The adrenal glands work interactively with the hypothalamus and pituitary gland in the following process:

        * The hypothalamus produces corticotropin-releasing hormones, which stimulate the pituitary gland.

        * The pituitary gland, in turn, produces corticotropin hormones, which stimulates the adrenal glands to produce corticosteroid hormones.

Both parts of the adrenal glands - the adrenal cortex and the adrenal medulla - perform very separate functions.

The adrenal medulla, the inner part of the adrenal gland, is not essential to life, but helps a person in coping with physical and emotional stress.

The adrenaline produced helps provide energy for your body to function.

The disadvantages of not having this gland are basically just that you may not get the spurts of energy some people get when they are doing physical exercise or faced with a nerve racking/scary experience. This could make you feel overconfident when doing performances or speeches, but as long as you take some deep breaths and tell yourself to concentrate, then you should be fine.

I might be wrong, but as far as I can see, those will be the only problems.

Hope this helps. Good luck in your soccer matches!
