  1. disadvantages...-

if v get home schooling v dont get 2 now bout other sot of pple,...mean dat v dont *** 2 noe about pple in our environment..n v sumtime bcome shy...

  2. Advantages:

Children schooled by someone who cares enough to take a personal interest in them, and can tailor lessons to their personality.

    Less time spent studying.

Outcomes of education are often much higher in quality than government schools.

It builds a stronger sense of family interconnectedness.

You don't have to fight over whether the education given to your children matches your strongly held convictions.

You don't have to take stranger's ideas of what children ought to be taught into account.

    Disadvantages:

You  have to buy more resources yourself while still being taxed to fund an institution that you've decided is too low quality to serve you better than you can serve yourself.

Parents don't have the convenience of having children out of the house, so that they can go off to work.

You have to actually think about what you want the kids to know, and find the resources or tutors who can help them learn it.

You don't have sports, band or extracurricular activities built in, so you have to enroll them in karate or find a group of other home schoolers who are getting together to form a band.

And you are constantly harassed by people who buy the ridiculous notion that the kids will be socially stunted by being isolated, when you know full well that you are giving them plenty of chances for better-quality interactions with others than they would get at school. All the real studies show that home schooled kids are more mature and better adjusted.

  3. advantages-

protect them from any physical harm that could come with going to school (kidnappers, rapists)

choose the rate at which they learn things

they won't pick up any bad habits from other kids

    disadvantages-

they would be crippled from learning how to meet new people and adapt to working with others and social interaction, making it hard for them when they get a job or start a career.

  4. The advantages and disadvantages depend on the family, the student and how the homeschooling is done.

Take, for example, blahblahblah and Chanel Marie. If they homeschooled their children, it sounds like they would not take the time to make sure the children's social needs were met. This would be a disadvantage of THEM homeschooling their children. See, my kids meet other kids fairly often because I make a point for us to do so. They don't have a problem with it at all. For us, then, homeschooling is an advantage because my kids do get to meet a variety of different people of different ages and backgrounds rather than just the kids in their class at school.

Advantages I feel my kids have by homeschooling:

-a close relationship with me and each other

-I get to raise them, counsel them, guide them; because I'm with them so much, I know much more of what goes on in their lives and can guide them, ask them questions so that they question things, etc.

-an academic program that is tailored to them: flexible, open content, goes their pace, etc.

-they get to meet a variety of people on a fairly regular basis

-they are less peer-focused and more family-focused than most kids I see who go to school

-they are growing up in a much more natural social setting rather than being in rooms for 7 hours a day with 20-30 other kids pretty much the same age--that's like growing up with 20-30 siblings the same age

-they don't have schedules that are packed tight with school, homework, then extra-curricular activities

    So much more!

As for disadvantages, one is that they aren't connected as well with the French-speaking community (we're a French Canadian family in a largely English-speaking city) here since they pretty much only see them in church and the odd activity here and there. But it truly doesn't outweigh all the benefits. Attitudes of people who don't know anything about homeschooling but judge it harshly are another disadvantage. But that's honestly all that I can say is a disadvantage for our family.

  5. The only disadvantage is the cost.

    Advantages are overwhelming-

    superior education

    child follows interests and skills/talents

    safer location

freedom to study as quickly or slowly as child needs to

    individualized instruction

more opportunities to advance into job market

    better study skills

    better social experiences

  6. advantages -

away from not being able to concentrate cos of other people, away from bullying.

disadvantages - might not be suitable, less cahnce to do things you'd get to do at school, e.g school trips.

    x'

  7. Advantages would be your child would be more safe from bad kids at school so less of a headache, they'd be more protection cause they would be at home, and they can work at their own pace and not be rushed or distracted.  The cons would be they wouldn't be associated with other kids like them
