The age that a child can deicde which parent they want to live with

what is the age a child can decide on their own in GA and FL with which parent they want to live with. any help would be great. just dont have time to go looking up the laws online. i am really pressed for time thanks a lot

  2. My mom's a psychiatrist and deals with this kind of stuff a lot, I know she treats a 14-or-15-yr-old who chose to live with her dad probably 6 months ago. Maybe even a year ago. The cutoff, though is 13.

  3. 12+ is the usual age... if a child is younger but very mature they may choose to petition the court to live with one parent or the other.

  4. The age is 12, 11 sometimes if the child can petition the court with a good enough reason.  But the main age is 12 and up.  

  5. I chose to live with my mom when I was 12 or 13.  They had me tell my dad my decision.  It is one of two times I've ever seen my dad cry.  It's really not easy on a kid.
