Question:

The apocracy?

It's something in my head. A democracy, that believes in the apocolypse. That believes in an end. Do you believe in The End? The Apocolypse? Rapture? I don't. There is no end, there are no mistakes, if you only believe. If you believe them they are true.

  1. I've spent my life wondering these things and my beliefs have changed over time.  I was raised in a VERY Christian home and believed in the book of Revelation.  Preachers taught, I listened... it never really rang true to me though.

College came and being one who loves a good debate, I can remember sitting around and having talks on religion, late at night - some of the best were me and this one guy who part african american and part native american and came from a long line of shamans... my education continued.

I spent the last 25 years reading, studying, and consuming everything that I could find on religion, philosophy, Eastern thought, and I finally came to some conclusions.  The only "end" will be the one that we as humans inflict on this earth.  If there is an "apocolypse" it will be one that we've brought on ourselves after years of warring and even then, it won't wipe everything and everyone out... Something or someone on this earth will survive.

As for the Rapture... uh... No.

I, like you, just don't believe in the end or the rapture as a total concept.  (Besides, how do they know it hasn't already happened, many years ago and we're what's left!  :) )

All of these things, just like God, were stories, created long ago to bring people in line.  There are so many holes in these stories, but I believe that it is possible for human beings to be good human beings, to be philanthropic, to be good to the earth and its creatures, without fear as a guiding force.

Can all humans do this on their own?  Sadly, no.  Which is why I've always said that religion isn't necessarily a bad thing, and not all athiests agree with me on this point.  I believe that it is extremes in all things (in this case - religion) that cause the problem, but there are some people that don't seem to have their own moral compass and need something else to guide them and religion... the fear of "the end" or the rapture, is the only thing that keeps them from going off the deep end.

I mean come on, The Ten Commandments?  Basic common sense stuff, but there are some people that need to be told and reminded!

What would our government be like if they discovered there was no end?  I fear anarchy.  I wish people would embrace the world for all the wonderful things that it is, not for what they think is coming after, but this world, or at least this country, simply isn't ready.

  2. There is nothing that says that to believe in the world ending means a person needs to believe in the Apocalypse.

Besides you can believe in anything you want and that doesn't mean it is real.

As humans we can't comprehend anything that doesn't end.

Our brains can't deal with eternity.

Does it really matter how we believe in something that has no absolute answer? It can be a waste of time focusing on something that may or may not happen.

    You mention the Rapture.

There are Premelium and Postmrelumis in the world.

I am sure I didn't spell those right.

When My dad was alive he was writting a book concerning this.

I personally don't have the brain to have an opinion one way or another.

I have a young son who died and I do wonder if he is just sleeping out of the body waiting for the second coming or is he in heaven with God.

I personally hope he is with God now.And considering the complexity of the universe , who knows, maybe i am already with him.

My thought was that as human's we have been there so briefly on earth that we are a speck on a speck in the nature of time.

Fortunatly we have a Creator who makes us special and valuable.

  3. i agree you there's no real end, we never make real mistakes and we have no limits in our minds

  4. To all things there is an end, an with all endings come new beginnings. That being said, I do not believe in the Apocalypse in it's religious context.

  5. So then if you believe in Santa Claus then he must be true. If you believe hard enough that Marylin Monroe is still alive then she must be right?

Just because you believe it doesn't make it true.

There is an end to everything but God, there will be an end to this era, and there will be an end to the world as we know it. Now how it comes about and when it comes about is up for a great debate. But what isn't debatable is that the end will come sooner or later. We will see the end of all things, and the beggining of a new thing.

  6. yes. But what is it you gain and lose?
