  1. The region which contains Paris is called the Île-de-France. It is composed of eight depatments, namely Paris itself, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Val-d'Oise, Essonne, Yvelines, and Seine-et-Marne.

    The Bois de Boulogne and the Bois de Vincennes are on either side of Paris.
