  2. If the situation in other Latin American countries is the same as in Peru, chinese people were brought as slaves at the beginning of the century (1920's). They worked in the agricultural businesses picking up fruit, cotton, etc. Then at the end of the second world war, more asians came to latin America, especially from japan and Korea. I guess (as the other answerer said) they came to all Latin america and the caribbean, some as slave workers some fleeing from war.
